Greetings!
These are some of the smaller finished products I have on hand, and for sale. Shipping on all of these is likely to fall in the $12-15 range, less for the small ones. Most of these work really well in window sills or shelves, and are a nice way to add some flowers or plants to the interior of your home or office. All of the wood used on these projects has a back story - some of it was gifted to me as wet lumber (walnut), some of it I milled myself from trees that were taken down or came down, and some of it comes from cutoffs from bigger projects. In any case, most of these are made out of smaller pieces of wood that are tough to use on bigger projects, and would likely be thrown out otherwise. I enjoy the exercise of letting the lumber tell me what it wants to be, and of giving even these smaller pieces a purpose beyond returning to soil (a worthy purpose in itself of course). Please just use the contact form below and let me know which piece you’re interested in! One day these may end up on Etsy or another listing website, but of course then they take a chunk of the profit, and as it is this is already mostly a labor :)
walnut
These walnut vases are creations of mine that were produced in order to feature some unique walnut material. Highlighting the grain patterns guided the shapes of these, and allowed me to make some unique and functional pieces out of lumber that was irregularly shaped and/or not large enough to use for bigger projects. This beautiful material came from Fireside sawmill in North Carolina. These are relatively narr0w (approx 1”), and work very well sitting in a window frame or on a shelf. I don’t recommend them for tables that get bumped a lot, as they can tip. The glass vials can easily be replaced. These also work well for propogating plants or keeping small amounts of herbs fresh a little longer.
spalted walnut
These spalted walnut plant propagation/display pieces feature some unique and flowing patterns that show the intersection of heartwood/sapwood within this walnut, as well as some light spalting patterns. These also work great in a window or on a desk or shelf.
Paper Birch/hackberry/red cedar
These are all unique pieces of lumber! The paper birch came via a friend, who milled it in Michigan from downed trees. It has a really beautiful golden color and some minor spalting. The hackberry pieces come from a small log that was given to me, which I turned into lumber. The spalting patterns are a natural part of the decay of wood, and are really striking. 19 and 20 come from a single piece and fit into each other at the curved cut. The red cedar single stem vases were all made from a tree that was felled in Uptown New Orleans. I was able to get some pieces of the trunk, milled it with my chainsaw mill, and these smaller pieces came from that tree. The exterior is burned with a propane torch, and then shaped to reveal the red interior.
Please shoot me a message via the form below, let me know which item you’re interested in, and I will arrange payment/shipping. Thanks!
